Hybrid vehicles function by combining the power of traditional gasoline engines with electric motors. Many modern hybrid vehicles are able to begin traveling in accelerate up two model-specific predetermined speeds by utilizing their electric motors only. Further, gasoline engines shut down when a vehicle comes to a complete stop. The electric motor instantly senses when the accelerator is depressed and launches the car into motion. Hybrid cars, trucks and SUVs use regenerative braking systems in order to keep their batteries charged. The energy created from the brakes being applied is harnessed and transferred to a vehicle's battery. Additionally, hybrid vehicles dramatically decrease emissions and run almost silently.
