What is so dangerous about genetic engineering and who started the science of genetics?
Now that many food items are altered in one way or another, what are some of the harmful effects of consuming genetically altered food and how long has this been going on?

People fear that genetically altered plants and animals can release harmful substances into the environment, causing harm to animals and the food supply. Gregor Mendel has been attributed with performing experiments using pea plants to study inheritance of traits in the middle of the nineteenth century.
